Why do you guys think they say no? What else could I add to make it work? I also would like to note that I structured these trades to make the cap fit - I think taking Gaboriks contract combined with the sens adding NHL impact players and two picks makes it worth while for a GREAT player who's going to walk if he's not dealt. I'm going to do more of these for other teams, I think it could be a fun thread!

What changes would have to be made for the sens to say yes? Taking Gaborik off the books I think is key here for Melnyk.

That's way to insane, that's like the future of the team. Karlsson is a rental + the penguins are taking a 5m contract off their books without retention - the deal you've proposed wouldn't be written down or ever spoke about in an office lol. The deal I've proposed gives the Sen's two NHL caliber defensemen under contract + an A level prospect + one - potentially two first round picks, while taking 5M off the Sen's books in taking Gaboriks contract for a player that's walking next June, and a team that need's NHL ready players to escape a complete rebuild, and allows them to keep Hoffman and resign Stone while still playing hockey in late April. I think your offer decimates the penguins team and makes the Senators a top 2 team in the Atlantic.

It's really not horrible but I just feel like they could get way more from a team like Tampa. They have so many top young guys like Sergachev Point Foote Howden Raddysh Joseph Katchouk.... They could package a few of those guys to Ottawa and that'd be a much better deal for Ottawa. Quality over quantity I'd say.

It's good for you, but remember, Karlsson is arguably the best defenseman in the league when healthy. You HAVE to overpay if you want to get him. I doubt he gets moved unless it's either some team massively overpaying, or a three-way trade.

What I've offered is an overpayment for a rental player seeking 10-11M per in 1.5 years. What you've offered isn't just an overpayment but a VAST VAST VAST over payment.

I couldn't agree more. I actually proposed a deal with the Bolts that would send, Raddysh, Sergachev, Hájek, Callahan and a first for Karlsson and Gaboriks contract (than buyout of Gaborik and trade Girardi to Edmonton for a 4th in 2019).

If the sens are going to trade him they will want full value out of karlsson bc they are in a trype of way of rebuiding
