The Leafs trade is horrific. Hamilton is a top pairing defenseman, signed long term to a reasonable contract, and you want to move him, plus a good prospect for that package???

Would need to add big time on TOR trade Marner or Kapanen or both instead of Brown and a 1st instead of 2nd, my thoughts (probably not right)

Montreal has no use for Gillies as they have already too many goalies in the pipeline. I don't know about the other prospects but I have a feeling non of them are RHD or center prospects that are highly rated which is what Montreal will ask for.

Habs are good at RD, LD is the real problem, along with C. But you're right, we have no need for Gillies, or any other pieces in that trade other than the 1st round pick (which on the other hand is painfully late).

the leaf trade is fair, if flames are thinking more long term, but I certainly understand why the flames and even the leafs say no. the other two are favour the flames.

No, it's not fair long term or short term. If you want hamilton your offer starts with marner or nylander.

then keep him. obviously hamilton would be an big improvement over polak, but not at the cost of the leafs second best forward.

I assumed that they meant Freddie Hamilton. That trade would be more fair than trading Douggie AND Kylington for this bunch. As has been said, it would start with Nylander or Mariner for Hamilton, even then Toronto would have to add more. Hamilton is a young, huge, elite defence an who is a 50 point guy on the backend while being a possession Beast. Toronto better not hold their breath because a Douggie trade is not happening.
