STL and DAL both say no IMO. Rentals cost less than that (DAL trade).
Dallas would probably say no i agree and have stated that the trade was a reach and even said the rangers had to add to get him in the description
Stl would probably agree to the deal. McDonaghs price tag is a young roster player, top prospect and a 1st round pick. The trade is for McD and Grabner (who alone would net minimally a second and a prospect). Gunnarrsson was solely included to make the cap work since St. Louis is tight against the cap.
So overall you have a young roster player, top prospect, prospect, 1st and second round picks.
Kyrou fits top prospect, and in lieu of a young roster player, prospect and 2nd rounder the rangers would take kotsin (who was 31st overall last year). Doesn't pull from St. Louis' current depth as they push for a cup (even with gunnarsson because mcdonagh replaces him and then some). St louis doesn't have a 1st this year, and next years is less valuable than this years due to the depth of this years draft.
Would take another trade for nash and holden (and get another 1st rounder plus) and pray that the rangers win the lottery because Miro could be replaced by Dahlin easy (or hope the rangers land at least in top 5 because there are a few really great defensemen in this draft)
