I bet Tampa like the trade. Terrible for the Leafs.

Aside from the crap shoot of draft picks that literally could be any picks as they see fit... It doesn't matter that the Leafs take the Carle contract(2 more years at 5.5m BIG WHOOP), it would include getting another AHL goalie to replace bernier and they get Drouin. Grabner will be gone regardless, Gardiner plays 1 good period in about a 2 month span which is enough for people to forget that he is a turnover machine. Leafs dont want to give up any young players so if they dont require one in return then bonus.

No, 5.5m cap hit a year is too much. Rielly is getting a new contract, likely Kadri. The Leafs might want money to take a run at Stamkos. So money does matter. Leafs have two goalies in the AHL they like. and it certainly looks like Sparks will be Leaf next year. Gardiner's play has improved considerably this year.

You act like they are going to be close to the cap next year.... miles away unless they sign some dud UFA's for no reason. There is no indication that they are getting Stamkos so life goes on until the day he signs then maybe you can worry about cap. Also relax a bit. I already stated if they traded for that goalie he would be in the AHL.

Suggest that you "create a team" for the 2016/2017 Leafs using this website. You'll see how close to the cap the Leafs are.

The exchanging of draft picks seems unnecessary, I think Carle and Drouin for Gardiner would be fair for both teams. Although If I was Toronto I would see if TB would bite on Parenteau & Polak & either Percy or Harrington for Carle & Drouin. This allows Tampa to gear up for a cup run this year while clearing Carle's contract (allowing them to potentially resign Stamkos). Toronto can buy out Carle and they end up with Drouin while only giving up a lower defensive prospect. To me it seems like a win for both sides.

Leafs to carry 1.8 m a year for 4 years with a Carle buyout?. No thanks from Leafs.

Eating Carle's 5.5m salary full or 1.8m x 4 years via a buyout would be a very small price to pay if Drouin reaches his full potential.

Well Luke, I don't troll. Glad you have so few posts. Most are inaccurate, which is OK, but then followed by your bravo rudeness. Ever been in a hockey arena, talked to people, had a constructive thought? Get your mommy to write a note for you, I'd been glad to read her answer.

Well that's embarrassing... good luck with that. All I can do is be left shaking my head.

RIP palhal who suffered a stroke
