Swap out Bellows for another prospect and there could be something there. Ho-Sang + either Wotherspoon or Vande Sompel? You can keep the 3rd.

That Nashville trade is nuts. Tolvanen alone is worth way more than a rental Rick Nash who's barely even a 20 goal guy anymore.

I mean I saw a fan post about Bellows and obviously i liked what i looked into.

The exact trade was
Nelson
Bellows
2018 First (CGY)
2018 2nd (cgy)
2019 2nd (cgy)

for mcdonagh

considering the rangers are rebuilding i took out a second rounder and nelson (since he's a little bit older now) and swapped it for a first round pick because the rangers will value that over nelson and a second (unless we could trade nelson and the second for something more towards the goal of rebuilding).. honestly since its division rival i would want them to push for Bellows rather than settle for Ho Sang.. considering the islanders have enough cap for tavares and mcdonagh it would suck to have to play mcdonagh for years without getting something of great value back from islanders.

nash is an easy 20 goal guy, don't be ridiculous and he is an amazing two way player that plays in all situations.. I forgot to put in that the 1st is conditional on nash resigning with nashville or nashville getting to the conference finals. otherwise it was a 2nd rounder in 2019.

The Isles trade is the kind of trade you make when you feel like you are one player away from the Cup, like the Caps last year or the Rangers when they traded for Yandle. The Isles are not in this position right now, so it makes no sense for them to give up their best prospect and their top 3 picks for this year. Also, the other 3 trades seem like extreme overpayments

not so extreme..
grabner will ideally get a 1st, he will definitely get a second rounder and an okay prospect (he's on pace for 30+ goals and backs up teams defenses like crazy cause of his speed).

Zucc is a first and a good prospect (raddysh) and the rangers would take foote in lieu of the 1st round pick. The first rounder and foote is a reach yes, but if you take on callahans contract, a team that has to dole out money to kucherov, point, etc. before callahan is up, they will pay to take a contract (maybe not a first but i could see foote, raddysh, a third and callahan for zucc and holden (zucc the main piece i am not saying holden has much value, he's mainly a depth option for tampa or a 7th defenseman)

nash is playing really well the past few weeks which has been increasing his value, he was so snakebitten and unlucky in the beginning of the season it was crazy. If you look at underlying stats he is one of the top in chances but hit the post 99% of the time or the goalie made an unreal save. Now that things are starting to turn around he will get a first round pick + a prospect. I settled for Eeli and a second with a condition that it's a first if nashville makes the conference finals or nash resigns with them. Not unheard of in rentals. they're also getting a third round pick there no matter what.

I respect what you said abt the islanders because i agree. Like i said in the comments above, it was a move posted by an islander fan that i just tweaked. If islanders are "all in" they won't want to give up NHL assets from this season (nelson) because it'll take away from the team. the price will be higher to not do that

Grabner is worth a 2nd rounder because of his ability on the PK. His offensive abilities are not as strong as Rangers fans believe, and that is evident in his assist total. Grabner's output comes from breakaways and his offensive game is lacking when a defense is actually in front of him. In Winnipeg, the defense and goaltending aren't as strong, so he can't be as aggressive with them as he is with the Rangers.

Zucc is a 30 year old who Tampa can't afford to re-sign after the 2018-19 season (Kucherov will need a new contract, and big extensions will be needed for Vasilevskiy and Sergachev). Taylor Raddysh and a 1st is way too much for essentially 2 rentals. Also, Tampa's offense already runs at a very high efficiency, so it's not like he's really needed there.

The Nash trade to the Predators is still an overpayment. Nashville already traded away 2 of their top 5 prospects and a 2nd rounder for Turris. I bring that up for 2 reasons:
1) Imagine how much more valuable Tolvanen is now that Kamenev is gone
2) 2 top prospects and a 2nd gets Nashville Kyle Turris on a team-friendly contract extension, so how does a 1st and a top prospect yield a rental who has played worse the past 2 1/2 seasons and is 5 years older?
Lastly, Nashville has so many long term commitments (plus another extension expected for Ellis this summer), so they are going to need prospects like Tolvanen to make the jump so they can stay competitive and under the salary cap

As for the Isles, I thought they were like the Devils and didn't make trades with the Rangers. Also, even if they do, they would need to make serious moves before this one if they were going "all in"

And Tolvanen is arguably the best prospect outside the NHL. You're not dealing 40 goal Rick Nash from 5 years ago, you're dealing 20 goal, 40 point Rick Nash who's a pending UFA. The value is off. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bring back a 1st rounder, but not an elite prospect.
