Description

As much as I'd like to buy the "burn down the house" line of thought, I don't see how the team would benefit from the process. Let's say MB trades Price, Weber and Patches for a bunch of picks and prospects. When you consider that non-top-5 first rounders have a 30% chance of blossoming into a top 6F/4D/1G, you realize that it would take something like 10 first rounders to have a decent shot at replacing the departed players. Can you get that much 1st rounders for 3 players? Absolutely not.

Well, you're not going to get as many picks in as you indicate. In cap world, money have to sent back to the Habs. And if Weber's case retention and even bad money being returned because of his outlandish contract.
