I used round numbers. Don't they get something like 950K + bonuses?

Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, you have the option of carrying the bonuses to the following season if you don't have the cap space to count it in the current seasons cap structure.

925k. And I don’t think anyone is going to make more than McDavids 12.5 million. He’s the benchmark for the most a player should be paid. Crosby should be paid more but he signed his contract forever ago. But mcdavid is 2nd best and that’s the most. I understand taxes and whatnot but I just don’t see it happening

I am not a big fan of trading for PLD, I think your value is bang on for what they would ask but you are buying high. He has played good for roughly 20 games in the NHL, I am not breaking the bank for such a small sample size. He is putting up points and has been bad at faceoffs, montreal would be better off just playing Chucky at C. I think Montreal's assets would be better spent going after someone who is not yet in the league.

So... lets take Pleks out of the deal, and send Chuk & the two picks to EDM for RNH... what do you think?

That allows for another deal I saw:
Pleks (1/2 his salary retained) & JDLR & a 2nd RD pick

to PIT for their 2018 1st RD pick

I put the contract number really high, because I think MTL will have to seriously outbid others to get him to come here.

AND... they have the cap space to do it.

I still think you are over paying for what you are actually getting, mainly because RNH is a 2C on any good team, so do you really want to give up Chucky a 1st and a 2nd for a 2C? That being said if you know you have Tavares then overpaying is not as big of a deal. I think if you ignore this year where RNH is having a great year and Chucky is having a down year( along with all other habs) they should be pretty close to a one for one. Definitely not a 1st and 2nd apart IMO.

I personally would be going for a deal that only sends either Patches or Chucky to a team for guys like R. Thomas, Kyrou, Vilardi, Clague. and picks. Although making that kind of deal probably hurts your chances of landing Tavares which is already really low.

I think where we disagree is the value of a 2nd line center. If they were alot more available, we'd have one by now (assuming Chucky isn't a center). I think getting a guy like RNH as a 2C (assuming we can get Tavares) puts us in a win-now mode (keeping in mind Price/Weber). I'd love to make a 1-1 deal, but I don't think Chucky is enough to get a former 1st overall pick, who is only 24, and good for 50ish pts/yr.

I'd go as far as saying that if we were to land RNH and JT, do we really even need Danault? RNH & JT would get close to 20min/g of ice time. That would leave 20 min/g to divide between the 3rd & 4th line centers. No need to pay Danault 2-3M$ to play 10-12 min/g.

after this season, Green comes off the books (6M$) and I doubt they re-sign Mrazek (4M$). They have 2M$ of cap space, plus the cap is going up a bit (somewhere between 78-80M$).

The Wings will use the money from Green and Mrazek to sign, Larkin, Mantha & AA. No money for Petry unless we send money back.

And they need to sign Larkin, Mantha and Athanasiou to new contracts. They really can't take more cap from outside.
