The Pleks deal is fine, though maybe a bit unnecessarily complicated. Two seconds would be a nice haul for him. A low first would be even better.

Jack Johnson is a rental, and there's no real upside to owning his rights. I don't get the rationale behind the Alzner deal, unless you're just trying to get him out of Montreal. Respectfully, I disagree, but accept there are some who don't like that signing. But why throw in McCarron? If Columbus decides that JJ is a distraction and won't be part of their playoff run, and the Habs are just marking time until they draft Dahlin or someone, why give up McCarron? They'll be buyers for Alzner at the deadline and in the summer.

I can't see Carolina giving up Ryan when they already have a serious Center depth problem. It's very unlikely that he doesn't resign with the Canes next year if they want him especially with his family liking the area so much and him playing under Bill Peters. Plus because of their new owner, Carolina is looking to spend money so I don't think they're looking for budget players like they have been in the past.
