Stone is a RENTAL. They get a prospect in Sosh & an expiring contract + a 2nd. What else helps this kind of trade along in your opinion.

Stone is not a rental. It doesn't matter if his contract expires at the end of the season, he is still an RFA and since offer-sheets are a myth in the NHL you have financial control over him until he becomes a UFA. Also, even if he was a rental, he is a first line winger and would be worth more than what you've offered, at least a first and a B-prospect.
