Description
Just blow it up! (This is obviously not entirely serious)

STL - Rumours that they are looking into Hoffman. Would certainly be Kyrou/Kostin/Thompson/Walman/Thomas coming back, and Gunnarsson is there for cap reasons.

CBJ - With top 6 forwards out, they could use a good center. They'd be trading a bit of the future out for the present, which is what should really matter.

TBL - Smith is a great middle 6 option on a good contract that can help with a cup run.

DAL - The biggie. Changes with the team need to start at the top, and with Karlsson's play looking questionable, his future with the Sens will also be muddier. He won't be worth the $12M he thinks he's going to command, so a return of some picks, a potential future starter, and a 3C developing into a great two way 2C is a good return.

PIT - They need a 3C. Pageau is one of the best in the game.

CHI - Depth, but like just take him for free please?

NJD - Hey, winger depth is useful for playoff teams, especially when it's a clutch vet like Burrows.

The rest of the team: The Ryan and Phaneuf contracts are really hard to move, and Ryan actually has had streaks of looking like a 7ish million dollar player beside Duchene, so keep them. It puts a lot of faith on the kids and allows them to mistakes in the big leagues, which is okay since the AHL team is a tire fire too. The team would go into next year with Chlapik, White, Brown, Batherson, Formenton, Gagne, Perron, Paul, Milano, Kyrou and Simon competing for spots up front while Jaros, Lajoie, Englund and maybe Wolanin fight for the blueline. With a ton of money to spend, the Sens can rapidly turn the team over and also have their future starter in Oettinger or Hogberg getting ready to take over by the time the team and all of its prospects are ready. Also, they would have a ton of picks in a good draft.

The Dallas Karlsson trade is very weak. Oettinger is a good goalie prospect but 2 late round picks, and Faksa who has improved this year but I see as a good 3rd liner, boarderline second liner is not enough

I Agree. 2 firsts, Oettinger, Faska and maybe an A level prospect would be a nicer return (a prospect that we know can be a top line player in the future - no Nick Paul please).

But, I also think that we are overvaluing the likes of Smith and Brassard but I Imagine they will be late picks if both TBL and CBL make pushes. I like the moves being made though. I do agree with keeping both Ryan and Duchene. 1 because they definitely have flashes of being top line players, and 2, Ottawa gave up so much for them that I think they should stick it out in the long run.

I mean, I would be happy if Oduya left for a bag of used pucks but hey, if they like him CHI then whatever. (Condition on that 7th would do nicely - maybe if Chicago makes it to the second round, Ottawa will keep the pick).

Quite a fan of all of these moves. I'd say other than Karlsson (not going to beat a dead horse, the guys above covered that nicely), these trades all make sense for all parties involved and back a lot of chatter out there about who likes who. Nicely done!

Yeah as everyone said all the trades are really good, except the Karlsson trade. Take maybe another first round pick or preferably an A level prospect

Lol, no Paul please. For the love of grilled cheese no deal like that again. that was funny. And hell I'd take one puck for Johnny O
I've done similar trades like the St. Louis trade with Hoffman but with Sabotka coming back for cap reasons. I like Gunnarsson better for his term and the fact he plays D.... and the Sens D is a steamy pile of donkey poop
