I posted a similar comment a few days ago on a proposed Seabrook trade. If one seriously wants to trade him and his contract, it has to hurt. 4 draft picks doesn't hurt enough.
Think about the Bickell trade. I believe he had one year left at a $4M cap hit. It took Teuvo to trade Bickell and get a 2nd & a 3rd in return. That's a decent secondary scoring winger in order for a cap floor team to take one year of a bad contract. That kind of hurt as a fan to make the trade.
To trade Seabrook, who I think was great at times and is still good-just not top pair good, with that many years and at a 6.8M cap hit...by the time it gets worth it for another GM it's hampering the Blackhawks more than not being able to sign whoever one thinks they should.
