McAvoy's ceiling is way too high to put him on the block, even for Karlsson. You're better off asking for Carlo, who could be a top 4 shutdown D. And Vatrano doesn't sweeten the return that much if at all.

You do realize hes going to free agency in 1.5 yers right? Mcavoy alone is worth more than Karlsson due to his incredibly high ceiling, contract and age.

Not saying that's not realistically what it would take, but Boston isn't giving up McAvoy.

Get off your high horse, Karlsson is worth way more than McAvoy. Karlsson is a top 5 NHL player right now. It's questionable if McAvoy even has the potential to be a top 5 defensman in the NHL, let alone player. Sure, McAvoy has the potential to be a #1 defensman for a team, but even if he reaches that ceiling he'll be lucky to crack the top 10 defensman in the league. That is a best case scenario for McAvoy. This isn't a slight against McAvoy, it's just a testament to how good Karlsson really is.

You can argue that it's not in Boston's best interest to go after Karlsson, and frankly I agree, but don't try and tell me McAvoy is worth more than Karlsson.

I don't think anyone's arguing that McAvoy has dreams that he might be at a Karlsson's talent level THAT'S NOT AN INSULT...ALL ELC DMEN DREAM OF BEING GREAT, but the "Water Level" for salary demands will come SOON! Karlsson for $12M or a cost controlled McAvoy for 5 years. I'm with Boston fans here. It doesn't make sense even though Karlsson's better. McAvoy is REALLY good and an ELC. There's almost NO trade in the NHL that really makes sense for McAvoy. There are some, but almost none. This isn't McAvoy alone, Provorov & Serg too.

McAvoy at 20yr old - 32GP / 5G / 14A / +7 / ATOI 23:18 / 77 Hits / 32 BLK

I'd say at the same age they are showing similar production. Will McAvoy become Karlsson? maybe, maybe not, hell maybe he ends up being better, but only time will tell. What I see though, is McAvoy is going to be a special player for years to come. Hopefully all those years will be wearing black and gold.

End of the day, none of us know what McAvoy will turn out to be. He maybe a worse, the same or better than Karlsson when all is said and done, I just can't stand how Karlsson is put on some pedestal like he is Bobby Orr. In Boston situation, McAvoy is more valuable to Boston then Karlsson would be, end of story.
