Description

Major cap space opening, allows opportunity for big FA addition. Blues get capable goaltender/player synonymous with their culture for cheap, also get out of Jake Allen contract, which Boston buys out. Halak becomes starter.

I can also see a situation where Boston spends a little less on a marquee FA while also getting a better goalie than Talbot (Kinkaid, Howard, etc.).

I mostly tried to work the trade and create a reasonable roster around it. Please ignore depth additions/lineup locations

St Louis can't afford to take on both Backes and Rask at full salary, St Louis will have about $21 million or so with the reported $83 million salary cap for 2019/2020 NHL season. With 12 players signed Rask and Backes eat about $8.65 million of that. There's no way they can afford both without some retention on Boston's part.
