I don’t see your point. Teams win the cup and don’t make the playoffs the following year. Teams win the cup and win it the following year. They didn’t improve and are playing down this season. They are the example of a team that won’t make the playoffs after winning the cup. This is embarrassing. This headcoach doesn’t know how to adjust and looks like the players don’t respect him. 5 game losing streaks don’t normally happen in dc.(trotz era)

Personally, I think this team is all based on how Holtby performs. If he's hot, the team gets confidence and they are a force. If he struggles, they do not have the depth to overcome it

Samsonov was rated in the top five of prospects along with some kid who played for Wilkes-Barre, a coupld years back, when people said the same about Fleury in Pittsburgh. Murray Matthews, or something? Who knows... Samsonov came over to North America this year, and has back to back shutouts in the AHL, right now. It's a long-shot, but while I agree that a championship requires a confident goalie, I'm not sure I agree about the Caps' lack of depth at that position.
