Edler move is pretty ok, but take Gagner out of the move. I mean, if he has some difficulties to make it to Vancouver's roster, then how could he get to the WPG roster which is arguably lot better. He'd be just a deadweight $3M bucks sitting in the audience eating popcorn... Edler for Kulikov and low 1st should do the trick.

I think TO can give Vancouver the right value without losing a current roster player. Something like Rosen or Bracco and a 1st for Tanev and half his salary retained. If I was Dubas and Vancouver was firm on Kapanen, it would be 1 for 1 with Half of Tanev's salary retained.

I’m gonna disagree, if you want salary retention. Especially on a player that has another year left on his deal. A draft pick should come along with it.

Vancouver Trades:
Chris Tanev ($2,250,000 Retained)

Toronto Trades:
Kasperi Kapanen
2020 3rd Round Pick
*Pick becomes 2020 2nd Round Pick if Toronto wins Stanley Cup in 2019 or 2020

I think that would be a fair offer

Kapanen is more valuable than Tanev. Age, upside, speed and the fact that Vancouver is still in the early stages of a rebuild make Kapanen far more valuable to them than Tanev. Which is why I am saying if it has to be Kapanen its 1 for 1. Otherwise I'd offer a 1st and Bracco for Tanev with half his salary retained. Or Rosen instead of Bracco if you prefer a defenceman. (check their play in the AHL, they are both dominating down there this season).

I know you guys want a huge return for Tanev, and I appreciate that but a potential 30 goal scorer is worth Tanev at half his value without a doubt. Especially to a team that wouldn't even notice the cap hit since they have the space to accommodate that and then some.

Look at it the other way, Toronto is very much in need of a cost effective top pairing RHD. Vancouver has lots of young wingers who have potential. Goldobin, Dahlen, Virtanen and they play with less skilled players than Kapanen. Who I will agree is a great young player with potential. He plays with the likes of Matthews, Marner, Tavares. It’s more of an inherent risk for Vancouver to take Kapanen at “his potential” whereas you know exactly what you’re going to get with Tanev saving huge money in Both Kapanens resigning and Tanev retention. The 3rd Round Pick with the condition of a “potential” 2nd rounder is more than fair.
