I think I actually remember Krug playing wing a game or 2 a long time ago and he sucked and looked out of place. It could have been his first season, but it was because of injuries I think. Pretty sure it happened and he was very poor.
It doesn't actually suit his skills anyways. To score a lot as a winger you have to win battles in front of the net and Krug would win zero battles when he's not able to cross check and slash the opposition which the refs allow him to do as a defender, but if he did that as a forward he'd be sent to the box. He needs the time and space he's allowed by playing at the point.
