He's hinting that the trade Datsyuk's contract to us because he is going to retire and leave 7.5m in dead cap on the books. This trade gives them two players that will actually play

I don't see that happening though.

I don't see that happening though.


It was originally just a pick for Michalek.

That being said, the DRW are not going to make a move to position themselves to have Bozak for a few seasons. They are rebuilding on the fly. If that means being cap strapped and missing the playoffs, I think Holland would secretly be happy with that.

probably some details there to be worked out, but the basis was that Detroit puts players in the line up for a little more (approx 8.5M) than what datsyuk's cap hit will be (7.5M) for next year, the following year they would have bozak at 4 and change as a serviceable 2/3 C. Inclined to agree that they wouldn't do that deal, maybe just Bozak? Lower cap hit, servicable player good on pp, frees a spot up for leafs and rids them of the extra year on bozaks deal.

The Leafs aren't going to start the Reimer era again. Why help Detroit out with a player and cap relief?....Michalek is on NMC. If the young RFAs are the future of the Leafs, I think they should get more money or else they are going to be signed by other teams for minimal or no compensation. Harrington? That's not progress
