So let me get this straight... If Carolina offered you Hamilton/Slavin straight up 1 for 1 for Nylander you wouldn't take it? If Philly offered you Provorov straight up 1 for 1 for Nylander you wouldn't take that either? What about Seth Jones 1 for 1? Philly, Carolina, and Columbus would be getting absolutely FLEECED, but you wouldn't take those?

Nylander is a great player, but seriously, if someone wants to overpay for your player you take that.

What does sitting out for a year do to help the situation? Nylander has no arbitration rights next year and Toronto doesn't have any more cap than the projected amount of space will be. Sitting out a year does absolutely nothing to help the situation for Toronto. It just paces in circles only for this to happen again.

The best option for Toronto IMO is a bridge deal. Get him on a 2 year deal for $5-6M or whatever and pay him part of Marleau's money when it's up. Toronto could easily fit Nylander in at $5-6M for 2 years.

If we weren't able to resign him next off season, after Marner and Matthews are signed, then yes by all means trade him. I just feel like if we trade him now we are trading from a position of weakness, being forced into a deal because of time constraints
