Description
(see part one if you haven't)| Brassard and duchene like the winning tradition in pittsburgh and decide to take a discount. a million or two less than they possibly could get in FA, for more term and more chances to win cups.| pens would also need to rely on a few rookies to step up deja vu? **cough cough, sheary, Rust, Kuhnhackl, wilson, murray, cough cough** but instead it's ZAR, Johnson , and Blueger. Johnson brings elite speed to make up for the subtraction of hagelin, ZAR is a gritty two way winger, Blueger is probably the most skilled overall out of the rookies mentioned. has puck skills and can play wing or center.

All things being equal, you don't trade a #1 defenseman for a #2 center. Subban is three years younger, and since 2011 he's played 70+ games in four more seasons than Malkin. When healthy, Malkin gets more points, but Subban played the fewest offensive zone starts of the top ten defensemen in points last year. He's a factor in all zones of every game.

If you add together all the pieces you're trading away: Malkin, Maatta, Sprong, and a 1st, I think you could get Nashville to part with P.K. Subban. And then you could certainly sign a UFA to play 2C next summer.

If you just really need a good defenseman to weather the injury to Schultz, there are other guys out there. Don't panic. But I think Subban pretty much retires in Nashville.

I agree with you that the trade isn’t perfect but I think we can all agree that there’s probably 5 or less teams that Malkin is the #2 center

……..Nashville would be the ones who have to add more to subban to get malkin, its not even close, at least an extra player and probably a 1st. Malkin is a number 1 center on at least 28 teams, he just happens to play on the one that has the best player in the entire league, but overall malkin is still a top 5 center.

No way Duchene gets a pay cut lol. He will probably get around 7.5

I will say as a Nashville fan I love it haha. If that offer or hell even Subban+ was legitimately offered by Pitt, Subban would be gone. Moving Subban is hard for so many reasons.
How about Subban, Turris for Malkin, Maatta? I know Pens fans want to trade Maatta maybe this works for both teams? Maybe Preds add a pick I'm not sure?

i definitely don't think either PK or geno should be traded but if they had to be traded i think that would be a pretty fair trade for both teams. Malkin > turris / Subban > Maatta so it kind of balances out. maybe preds add a mid round pick like a 3rd or maybe a conditional pick of some kind
