Before you ask "Why would the Sens do this?", the answer is that Lucic is owed 4M less in actual salary over the rest of his contract and Melnyk would probably low that. Also muh grit and character etc etc

Why the Oilers would do this, is, first off, 500K of cap space and I'd argue Ryan is a better player for their system than Lucic.

No, I'm actually trying to view this from Melnyk's point of view. He's a penny pincher so he would love to move Ryan even for Lucic just to save a few precious dollars.
