Description

So, Pacioretty has to sign a contract extension before october 3rd. I think Edmonton would love to have him because he is exactly the kind of forward that would fit well with McDavid and Draisaitl. A fast forward who could eclipse his goal totals from Montreal. He could finally have a center to work with. But, there is a catch. Darnell Nurse still has no contract, and he will not be present at training camp if he has no contract. He recently said that Montreal was a perfect place for Max Domi. Both are friends. He would love to join him in Montreal. Montreal's defense would be much better with Darnell Nurse, a fast skater who could fit really well with Jeff Petry. Montreal has the money to sign him. Plus, they would love to have Kailer Yamamoto in their prospect system, a fast guy. However, Edmonton doesn't have Darnell Nurse anymore, so they have to get another defensman to compensate for the loss of Andrej Sekera. Jordie Benn would be an interesting replacement, at least for now. Note: Pacioretty has to sign an extension to make this deal work.

Agree here. Take out Yamamoto, add some more on the Canadiens side (maybe Byron?), and it would be closer.

Patches and Benn for Nurse seems fair enough as long as it includes an extension. KY is a good player but Habs already have more wingers than they know what to do with, so why not leave him out of it? Use offsetting picks to equal value if you need to. Not sure the Habs have roster spots or the Oil cap room to do anything much more complicated.

First of all we don’t need another 6-7 defense man like Benn. Patches will be 31 when his contract is up for an extension and will want probably 6 years and 6-7M per. It would be foolish for the Oilers to even consider this deal. We could get much better for Nurse and Yamamoto imo
