Explanation
Toronto takes a risk by giving away some good futures but if they can find the room for Ellis to re-sign they solve the hole on RD. Also with Mathews and Marner on ELCs and Gardner up for a contract, it's a good year to take a shot.

Nashville upgrades from Ellis to Karlsson making their defense miles better than any other team. they also add a solid two way winger Mark Stone on the right side. They give up a ton of futures but their window is as open as it gets so they might as well go for it. Also If Nashville moves on from Rinne they will have plenty of room to re-sign one of them but probably not both.

Ottawa gets a bunch of picks and young players. The best one being Dante Fabbro.

I realized halfway through writing this that a similar deal could be done with Duchene instead of Stone depending on where Nashville wants to upgrade and if Ottawa thinks they can get more elsewhere.
