Tampa gets:
Erik Karlsson and removes Callahan's contract.
Ottowa gets:
Mikhail Sergachev
Connor Murphy
Anthony Cirelli
2020 1st round pick
Marian Hossa's cap hit for only $1M salary

To me, the value for Carolina is a little light and some of the parts don't really fit where they end up. Carolina has Rask who is basically Anisimov but younger and a bit cheaper and if you add Anismov to Stall, and Rask, you don't end up with a spot for their top center prospect Necas to get icetime. Gourde at 5'8 and a buck fifty adds a piece to similar to DeBrincat, Kane, Hinostroza, Sikura and whatever other midgets....errr….I mean diminutive wings the Hawks have. Further, if the Hawks are taking Callahan's deal, and paying Gourde the 5ish he will get if he comes close to repeating last years production, the combo of Callahan+Gourde+Faulk is probably 16 million in cap next year verses 13.5 Hossa/Anisimov/Murphy represent. Hossa > Callahan as you can LTIR Hossa and that creates more usable cap space and is owed 9.5 million verses Hossa's 3 (meaning you are giving a premium asset to move his deal where the cost to move Hossa will be less). To me Gourde and Anisimov are probably a wash...if Gourde was not a fluke last year he is certainly better then Anismov but will be getting 1-1.5 million per more (there is also a decent chance Gourde was a fluke &/or is not a 60 point player away from the Bolts team and again probably not the right flavor given the mix the Hawks already have up front). I obviously like Faulk over Murphy, but net difference in cap out of this deal could be 3.5ish million and no LTIR wiggle room.

@wojohawk You can add a 2nd round pick to the deal. Doesn't make much of a difference.
Anisimov has played both center and LW throughout his career. If they have to make ice time for Necas they easily could. But its not all that likely the 19 year old European is on the Canes full time next season.

I think most people have gotten past the "we need big hard grinders out there" mentality. We've seen many teams lately with smaller players win. Sure it would be nice to have large power forwards, but their aren't all that many in the league anymore, and certainly none that can be easily picked up.

Faulk is an huge upgrade to Murphy. Gourde is an upgrade to Anisimov if he isn't a fluke.
The Hawks will have $20M in cap space in 2019 to resign Schamltz, Gourde, Sikura and a few others. They are not a massively cap strapped team like they once were.
After that Callahan comes off the books and the Hawks have a ton of flexibility still.

Overall this team is much better than what we have now and it doesn't hurt the future.
