1.
MIN
  1. Skinner, Jeff
Détails additionnels:
Wild get an immediate upgrade in scoring.
CAR
  1. Niederreiter, Nino
Détails additionnels:
Hurricanes get a player who is under control for four more years. Skinner is a year away from UFA and they don’t want to negotiate with pending UFAs/RFAs. (See Dougie Hamilton trade)
2.
MIN
  1. Bracco, Jeremy
  2. Martin, Matt
Détails additionnels:
(This is assuming John Tavares signs in Toronto. Also, William Nylander is part of this trade but he is currently an RFA.)

Wild receive young, skilled right shot winger they have been looking for in Nylander. In compensation for taking Matt Martin’s contract, Wild receive prospect Jeremy Bracco.
TOR
  1. Dumba, Matt
Détails additionnels:
Toronto receives right handed defenseman they have been looking for to play with Morgan Reilly. With the new additions of Tavares and Dumba, Toronto looks primed for a deep run in the playoffs just before having to pay for the new contracts of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
3.
MIN
  1. Severson, Damon
  2. Zacha, Pavel
Détails additionnels:
Minnesota gets its replacement from trading Dumba. Solid right-handed defensemen have great value in the NHL. Minnesota receives a valuable young center to add to Eriksson Ek. New Jersey has the depth at center to handle the loss of Zacha (Speers, McLeod, Quenneville).
NJD
  1. Coyle, Charlie
  2. Zucker, Jason
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2019 (MIN)
Détails additionnels:
New Jersey adds speed and scoring to their top-6. Scoring on the left wing behind Taylor Hall would be huge. With Coyle, New Jersey adds size to their right wing depth. A third-round pick is added because right-handed defensemen and young centers are the most valuable assets to have in the league.

You've got some solid ideas here, but this creates a hole on our top 4 LHD. Suter might not ever be the player he once was with the injury he had last season so trading away Brodin and forcing Seeler to be in your top 4 is not smart. Seeler is a fine 3rd pairing guy but he has only played 22 games in the NHL, and while it's a cliche I think there's some truth that it takes 300 games in the NHL to develop a defenseman. You'd have to move one of your forwards to fill the void that trading Brodin creates. I'm not sure if you know this, but Skinner has had a lot of head injuries, he could be one hit away from never playing in the NHL again which really scares me. I'd rather trade Nino for something else (like a right shot forward or a LHD in this case). You also traded our only right shot top 6 forward away (Charlie Coyle), with this team 11 (!!!!!!) of our 12 forwards are left handed, which can really cause problems on the power play. I like that we've got some young talent coming back in Bratt, but there are still some holes that can be fixed by targeting some different guys with your trades.

Both trades are bad for Minny.

Coyle is a better center than Johansson (he's been a winger most of the time), he's cheaper, under contract for an extra year, and will get similar point totals. Bratt is interesting but not worth Brodin.

Skinner has popped in 30 a couple of times, but isn't consistently there. Healthy Nino last year was on a 35g pace. 4 years of contract for a rental of Skinner is bad.

Nino was playing on one leg the 2nd half of the season; Coyle one 1 leg and and torn ligaments in both wrists. Let them get healthy and rebound for selling super low on them.

I tried my best with the limited cap flexibility after resigning Zucker and Dumba. Who do you believe the Wild should target?

Hi arousedcat, I see what you are saying about 11 of 12 forwards are left-handed. I made some changes to this roster rafter reading your comment. What do you think of the roster now? There is no easy fix with this team. Paul Fenton and Tom Kurvers have a tough task at hand.

I really don't know who to go after at this point. Tavares and EK have stagnated the market that nothing can be done until at least one of them is off the board.

I just know that I don't want to overpay for a 1 year rental player that will be looking for some crazy contract next off-season.
