Both deals the teams pass, orielly can be aquired for the 3rd overall alone and he is a better all around player than duchene, karlsson has much less value than you think because of his injury history and 1 year left on his contract, and even signed his value is a top prospect a 1st and a top 4 defenceman that was the asking price at the draft and his value only lowers as we enter the draft.

As if 3 1st round picks and 2 2nd round picks aren't a big enough rip off for Karlsson, then 2 1st round picks and a early 2nd round pick for Duchene??? WOW

1st of all, Duchene IS NOT a 1C. Only sens fans think that because they overpaid for him and didn't even make the playoffs. I can name 20+ 1C's that are better then Duchene and going on 27 years old, he's reached his peak.

2nd of all, Sens can only trade what they own, and that is a 1 year contract nothing more. These guys are UFA's and they can't trade the concept that the players "verbally agree to sign extensions" with the new teams because that is between the players, their agents, and the team acquiring them for 1 year as a UFA.

Duchene is worth a 1st rounder and DEFINITELY not a top 10 pick, and a 2nd rounder and maybe a 3rd or 4th.

Karlsson is worth 2 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder.

I get sens fans are upset their team looks like it's falling apart and the owners might be giving up to rebuild, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have realistic expectations that you have a stud 1st liner and stud 2C available for trade both with only 1 year rental UFA agreements.

Agree, ROR is definitely a more valuable 2C then Duchene and Duchene is definitely not a 1C on 25 teams in the NHL today. Furthermore, the people on here who think they can gain more value for 1 year rentals with UFA agreements by saying "xxx player verbally agrees to sign an extension" with the acquiring team is foolish. Sens or any team in a similar position, can't magically create the value with their UFAs as if they are RFAs.

Easier just to report people who start name calling or getting personal. They'll get issued warnings and infractions and soon enough will learn or be banned. Nobody needs to be calling people fools...this is all for fun debating, we aren't curing cancer.
