Description
JT wanted Doug Weight to stay, so I assume this is essentially the nail on the coffin.

Toronto works because they can afford it in the meantime (or shed whatever salary you have to get JT on your team, duh) and the entire team can benefit for a true leader. This is just a guess, but I can see JT in a Leafs jersey. And the east gets that much harder once again..

    STRONGLY disagree with your take. JT likes Doug, sure. But nobody knows exactly what it will take for him to stay. Here is my two cents:

    Lou met with JT last week, do you honestly believe this DIDN'T get brought up? Lou needed to pitch JT on HIS plan. And by all accounts, JT walked away pleased from that meeting. Garth and Doug couldn't get Johnny to sit with them face to face since the exit meeting. Lou did it in one phone call without even officially being hired yet.

    (Trade for his rights is ok though I guess grin )

    Yeah that is a good point there is pretty much no way that it wasn't discussed in their meeting. Honestly, Idk why I got so abrupt when I read the release and figured it signaled the end of JT in NY. I feel like I just want the drama of the offseason to start tears of joy

    All fair. Same circus as Stamkos last year. I still think JT is 50/50. But I think he knew this move was coming at minimum. Maybe to some extent he blessed it.....
