Seems bit pointless for VAN. Pettersson and that 2018 1st round draft pick are crucial pieces in their rebuilding, and they already have Demko, one great goalie prospect. Why then they should acquire Price, and just throw all they have done to rebuild away?

As good as Price is, VAN is not one of the teams that wants him. It just doesn't fit.

The Habs purpose of trading Price would be to get cap space. If Canucks keep Ericsson the deal would be much more attractive to the Canadians.

Ultimately, the only question that needs to be answered in this is whether Vancouver feels it has the basis of a "rebuilt" team in Boeser, Horvat, Gaunce, Granlund, Virtanen ... and whether they have enough faith in their scouts to stay the course. If they do, Brother Starsfan98 is correct.

The other question -- and I am not sure even he knows the answer -- is whether Price wants out of Montreal. And, if he does, would he want to go "home" to Vancouver, where the pressure on him might be even more intense. He might be the kind of guy who thrives more in Arizona than in a hockey hotbed.

For the last time, No team is taking on Carey Price without Marc Bergevin eating at least $3 million of his salary as is it's just not plausible and even though he's from the Vancouver area. No way do i see him waiving his NMC to go there.

They don't have to eat his salary if the trade involves taking contracts back which this trade does well.. but yeah Price has full control of where he wants to go so a price trade is totally unrealistic.

Would just like to add that Montreal's backups (Lindgren, Montoya, Niemi) have a better winning % than price this season. For $10.5M you need your goalie to be a difference maker, but instead they are getting more out of the guys that make less than $1M.
