Description

Let’s talk about a Teräväinen contract AFP (link in comments) project a 4 year deal with a cap hit of ~5.2 AAV. I am suggesting that the hawks sign Tuevo to a two year 20 million dollar contract with the understanding that if he is a good fit he will be in our plans during our contention window at a cap hit that is more appropriate. For now let’s say after his contract we give him a 4 year deal at 4 million.

I'm good with this approach for contracts, but would prefer Jake over Turbo if he's an option. If not...then yeah this works. I wouldn't mind a 3rd year (or potentially a 4th depending) at all either. Gotta think at least a few ELCs will be on the team then.

I think it’s too early to sign a mega deal, especially for Jake Guentzel despite the hawks considering it… so this approach seems the most reasonable… it should be an interesting offseason.

I wouldn't hate this, but I think that $10 million a year for Teuvo is more than makes sense. I like the idea-- offer less term but way more money, with the hope that he resigns at a discount later-- but even $7.5 million a year for two years is a massive overpay, and I'm skeptical that the extra $2.5 million a year now would matter for resigning Teuvo, since there couldn't be any official agreement in place.
