Description

I think the Hawks will sign or trade for 2-3 forwards and 1 RD this offseason, but I don't think any of them are major deals-- we're one offseason away from the splash.

Tanev-- signed for above market value with the expectation that he's traded to a contender at the deadline. Levshunov joins the team either at the trade deadline or at the end of the season, depending on whether Levshunov plays at Rockford or Michigan St.

Smith, Domi-- could stay for the whole season or could be traded at the deadline, depending on (1) their trade value, (2) Hawks injuries, and (3) who is ready for a promotion from Rockford

Korchinski-- starts the season in Rockford, similar to the paths Vlasic and Kaiser took. Likely comes back to the NHL midseason and one of Kaiser and del Mastro goes back to Rockford.

Pageau will not be dumped alongside a future first round pick unless a good player is coming back in return

Pageau is still a great 3C, he just makes a bit too much. If he were making 4 mil for two more seasons he would easily have positive value, and still might. However, Isles could easily dump him with the later of their second round picks. IDC about BR's trade charts, its the same company that stated Simon Holmstrom was a prospect. Islanders never do this

Would you trade Pageau for a 2nd round pick? I've been using the Josh Bailey trade as a template-- Pageau is a couple years younger but Bailey's contract was only 1 year and they had nearly the same PPG in their last years. I started out with the idea that Pageau was worth somewhere between 1 and 2 2nd round picks and tried to construct a move that focus more on the Hawks upgrading their picks than accumulating more, similar to the recent trade between the Hawks and Islanders.
