This is a really bad move for Van. You have to get something for Hronek that helps them now. Yeah, cap space, but instead of a young guy that you hold the rights to, you get to overpay a UFA that offers you far less potential. There are far better ways to dump Mik.

I like Hronek but no he's not worth a 1st and a 2nd, especially to a rebuilding team. And especially coming from a team that doesn't have room to sign him

feel like a top pairing dman who is 26 is in fact worth a 1st and a 2nd. maybe SJ doesnt want to pay it but some team will.

canucks have room to keep hronek but i think it makes more sense to load up the forward group and build a budget d-core, which is why i would trade hronek. if the canucks didnt have hughes on the blueline, i wouldnt be looking to deal hronek

I think San Jose just keeps the unprotected pick instead
