Description
Smith: You can easily trade Smith and sign a FA.
Hayton: I feel like we make a move to bring in a young player in need of a fresh start. I think Hayton could be a nice 3rd liner to take a chance on.
Nedeljkovic: If you wanna bring him back and leave Blom in the A, you can.

Blueline: Cant see Letang/Karlsson getting dealt. Graves contract not moveable, Pettersson is a key piece in our top 4. St. Ivany has been great and deserves a spot. I wanted to find a replacement for POJ, but honestly, he is still young, has a good TK/GV ratio, and I think if he works on his speed, he can be a solid bottom pairing guy.

I find it hard to imagine us finding a way to get rid of Graves, Rakell & Jarry, even though most AGMs include those trades.

Jarry could probably be moved with minimal return. His horrific play to finish seasons is probably on everyone's radar at this point. He starts the season great every year and fades badly.

I don't see why AZ does that trade.

As far POJ his speed isn't the issue, he skates fine. It's his decision making. It's constantly very bad. He's a freaking puck chaser.
He will leave his responsibility and chase the puck half way across the ice.

Look at last nights game. The puck was turned over and pushed ahead, instead of letting the puck pass to the wall, the direction it was heading, 1st mistake was to try to extend and get the puck, he failed and chipped the puck right to Holmstrom. If he lets that puck pass, A. it buys time, B. there is a possibility Letang closes the gap and disrupts.

Holmstrom then comes back in the penguins zone and was already 1v1 with Letang who was back and cutting him off from charging the net. But Letangs stick is L, and the Goal is R. So his stick is outside to the wall. Leaving the lane to the net open...

Instead of just going home to protect the net and close the lane, he chased the puck carrier down the wall from behind reaching fecklessly to disrupt Holmstrom till he gave up to get home. Homstrom dragged him down the wall out the play. You can tell in the play POJ realizes he F up and makes the decision to get back but it's too late.

It was a poor decision on his part. He left the pass lane open and the pass was made and a goal was scored.

He could have avoided the whole thing 2 times. The first was to not chip the puck and let it go. Yes the islander player probably still gets the puck, but he would have to go get it buying time.

The second was to just get back and not chase the player down the wall. So he could cut the lane. His split second poor decision left the window for the pass open.
It is always this way with him. He makes poor decisions chasing the player with the puck instead of realizing he's responsible for the area in front of the net and shutting down lanes there.

As for Ivany, he's a 44.1% corsi and his 5v5 oiGF/60 vs oiFA/60 is a negative ratio.
He's basically bland replacement level defenseman.
