Description
The way I see it, TOR is going to be in a serious crunch when they have to pay big for Matthews + Nylander. Take into account Marner, and that is salary cap hell. So one of them has to go. And I think of the young three, Marner is the one to get dealt. My thinking is, TOR would love some good D-men locked up for a while. Why not Maatta, who is playing great right now, and his value continues to go up for Marner? Let me know what you think

Honestly, Maata and a 1st is not enough for Marner. Marner is an elite playmaking forward, who could be an 80point player in the future.

You are really just trolling. . . . right? Leafs have absolutely NO cap issues coming up in the next 2-3 years, PERIOD! Long term, bridge deals, expiring contracts, depth, LTIR, ELC contracts, all set up to insure salary cap flexibility and stability! Your above deal for Marner is a complete joke, and while Toronto would love some "good Dmen", Maata's stock has never been lower, (despite the first 6 games)!

Toronto might return the call saying start Letang on the trade rather than Määttä. You might say yea but we are giving them Matta and 1st... but I dont think toronto wants a 1st round draft pick.

Agreed. This is a horrible trade for Marner. He's 20. Scored 61 points as a rookie! Has 2 more years on an ELC making less than $1M. Maatta??? Is TOR going to re-start their rebuild? Why the 1st?

Let's say for just a second that they CAN'T keep him...2 years from now...which means he's playing GREAT! They should at the very least get something comparable to an offer sheet. (2) 1sts (1) 2nd & (1) 3rd. You're trading a $4M 3rd pair Dman and a low 1st. Not even close to fair.

Gee, again the logic is so flawed. Why are the Leafs in such cap hell as you suggest? It's kinda lazy to make such statements, and then post a Pens lineup. Try doing a Leaf lineup for which may or may not support your argument. Oh, by the way, Marner hasn't played centre in the NHL.
