Didn't the leafs do it with Kessel for 7 years and oel was retained by Zona for like 5+, it's rare, but it happens

I recall Toronto being on the hook for some of Phil's retention even after he was traded to Pittsburgh.

Petry is being paid by Montreal, Pittsburgh and Detroit.
