Description

In the case that this team is 5+ points out of the playoffs by deadline time it could be best for the long-term future to try and get value for the older guys and stay relevant for longer. The Lightning still have Kucherov, Point, Hagel, Cirelli, Paul, Sergachev, Cernak, and Vasilevskiy under contract LONG term. That's a really solid core and should stay a playoff team a long time if the depth is managed correctly.

Rotate the young players into the lineup for the remainder of the season. Hopefully someone shows something to get them into the lineup for next season. Someone out of nowhere like Colton a few years ago.

I would almost always agree but at some point talent has to win out. Hedman is a top 30 player in the league and he will help the team win more throughout the rest of Kopitar's career and probably a few years beyond that.
