I think, especially if he'd be open to extending here, Hanifin should be target #1. The system fit is incredible imo.

For now, give Benoit the Lyubushkin treatment and see if he can play the pure stay at home role with Rielly temporarily. Give Sammy-Jones some runway to see what we have in both of them, if it's bad then we'll have time to decide what to do here. End of the day I suspect we'll have to get another D and maybe another goalie as well.

Not just the brad tax, it's the early in the season tax, retention tax, possibly over valuing Niemela, etc. etc. etc.

At least 20-30 of this or variations of Leafs trading for Calgary's defense posted daily, it's all been said. There's absolutely nothing more that could possibly be added to the conversation.

What don't you cook up a package Leaf fans would hate? Argue with them for a while.

Or just wait until the deadline, all the BS goes out the window when pieces start moving.

Hanifin or Tanev will likely go for a lot less than I hope to Jersey, but we'll probably get better prospects back, because they have them.

The Leafs do not have enough expendable assets to make a big splash before the deadline.

Other things can go wrong and recently have. I just don't want to be cruel and hammer on that point.
