Description

I think realistically this is 100% possible if they decide to continue to try and be competitive.
Some things to note:
1. Schenn and Krug buyouts need to happen if they want to stay competitive in the next two offseasons going forward
2. Thomas becomes captain which is the obvious choice now
3. Chychrun trade would be nice long term as a partner for Parayko. Hes only 26 as well so the contract ending at 33 is good timing Blue line is difficult to assess right now so bear with me but I'd love to hear feedback on that.
4. The offense in terms of prospects I was a little hesitant. Think of Tavares as that Giroux type signing that OTT did which could help Snuggerud. That Kevin Hayes deal was really not ideal when trying to construct a roster considering if he's playing C he's almost 100% getting surpassed by 2026
5. Mangiapane is sort of that guy that can help put pucks into the net. Since at the time of writing this we have no finishers it may be like a Saad type signing which seems to help secondary scoring
6. Make note of the fact that some players like Saad, Hayes, and Leddy are almost done with their deals, which gives more time to developing prospects

The sens might want a touch more for chychrun but bolduc is a great starting point. Can't see them being interested in perunovich though at this juncture. chychyrun will in all likelihood want more than 6mx7

I actually really like this outlook. I think that 2028 is our year that we really go for it. Most of our current prospect pool and this years draft picks would be NHL ready/established and on either bridge deals or ELCs probably. The D contracts would be gone whether we bought them out or let them expire. Schenn would be in the last year of contract and would hopefully be locker room presence. I have not been impressed in the slightest by his play this year, so I would also be happy with him just being gone. Thomas would be a solid 29 year old captain in his prime and Parayko would either be a locker room guy on the 3rd pair or LTIRetired.
