I agree 4 million retention was too much for any team, so for this roster I've changed that to 2 million and included an legit 2021 first round RD prospect in Corson Ceulemans, who is also an Alberta native, to pay for retention. The idea is Calgary wants to cut bait on paying Huberdeau the full contract and finds that a satisfactory return to save 8.5 million a year for seven years. Trey Fix-Wolansky, also an Alberta native although obviously from Edmonton, is also included as a depth piece who lights up the AHL but can't quite crack the NHL on a Columbus roster already full of depth wingers.

Spitballed on RFA deals. I'm assuming KJ and SIllinger opt for bridges betting on themselves to earn big pay days a few years in the future after both looking fairly shaky on their ELCs, Chinakhov and Blanks get raises, and that Marchenko goes for long-term stability since he's a little older. Roster has a bit of wiggle room if need be, moving Olivier to a team needing grit or even flipping Provorov to someone who needs a 2LD.
