Casey is the Devils' top defenseman after Nemec. He is very talented, and although small, has all the tools to make it. There is an outspoken group that believes he should move to center.

Clarke is a nearly NHL ready 21 year old forward who was nearly point per game in the AHL last year. He would benefit greatly from a rebuilding Nashville team where middle 6 minutes could develop him into a solid NHLer.

Edwards is Casey's teammate at Michigan, a left handed defenseman. He goes somewhat under the radar because he doesn't have a huge amount of upside. Still potential for an NHLer there.

Nashville’s needs are 1C and 1RD. And these are the 2 hardest positions to fill. If they move Saros they a young projected top pair RD or top centre. And if teams don’t want to part with that, then your best bet is moving Saros for a pick around a top 10 pick and more and trying to find your top pair RD or top centre with that

Problem is no team with a top 10 pick is gonna trade for Saros. Last time that happened was the Devils for Schneider, and we all saw how that turned out.

It’s an aggressive offer. I don’t think Fitzy will trade goalies in-season unless there is an injury (or I suppose, one completely blows up). But if he did, I’d imagine this gets it done.

Also - the Casey at center thing. He just played there temporarily while they were missing their top three centers (Fantilli, Brindley were returning from World Juniors, TJ Hughes was hurt). I don’t think they are actually considering moving him there full-time.
