Overreacting to Day 1 of KHL

If Kovy can be a top-six guy, that would be pretty awesome and save them a lot of money and headaches trying to find another top-sixer in UFA. It was extremely wise of him to stay in the NHL with Larianov to grow his game and his frame; had he signed with the Avs a few years ago, he would have rotted in the AHL and would already be a free-agent.

It's going to be interesting to see if they give Malinski and JLF a decent number of games this season to find out if they can be real-deal NHL-level players. I doubt the Avs will get anything near that kind of return for Manson, who will basically be a cap dump; a 3rd may be the best they can hope for. If Landy comes back (which we all hope for) and they don't re-sign Toews, they'll have plenty of money to re-sign Mikko and Bo plus fill up the roster with role-players; the glaring issue will be at C the following year but maybe by then Ritchie will be ready to take a roster spot or JLF will have taken it over for the time being.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I think at some point in the next 3 years we are going to have to have at least 2 prospects earn a spot if we are going to have any hope for success. And yeah, the Manson deal is extremely hopeful. But he's the one I'm ok losing for just picks if we're honest.

Someone - anyone - to the NHL from the prospect pool would be a big step in the right direction.
