Leafs in 2019-20 (Tavares + Doughty)

While I do have to say that your numbers are all over the board (some high, some low), I do applaud your overall creativity. Lots of other posts that have added JT and Doughty but totally lacked certain realities. Having said that, it would appear that you don't believe that Leafs in 17/18 are a playoff team and thus are making TD moves. Maybe (but I doubt it) that is reality, but 2 things. Most contenders, won't have room to take on 3 contracts at once, an you throw around first round picks like they grow on trees. I won't analyze your lines other than to say I would differ on who is still in the Leafs system coming out of ELC's or cheap, but tha's just one opinion vs. another. In all enjoyable early morning reading! lol

Paid too few player,s too much and then filled some of the bottom end players with basically non NHLers. All this to sign Tavares? And sorry Marleau just can't be LTIRed because you need cap space.

If you look at Lupul and Robidas, anything is possible when Lou is in charge. I highly doubt it, but you can't rule it out.

@ OP, This makes the team leaps and bounds worse IMO. Yeah the top 6 will undoubtedly be the best in the league at that point, but the bottom 6 is atrocious aside from Kadri. Everyone on forward in the bottom 6 are maybes (Debatably aside from Bracco and Brooks) and the chances all of them pan out are not in your favour at all. The defence is good, but in the following season you won't be able to sign Liljegren, Dermott, and Brooks, so the team gets way worse following that.

In my personal biased (leafs fan) opinion, I don't want Tavares or Doughty. Yeah they are spectacular players but we will be losing the depth thats needed in a long playoff run. Maybe we can afford one, but it still negatively affects more than it helps the team Imo. (unless they're willing to take a huge hometown discount, but they wouldn't do that)
