A.) McAvoy would cost way way WAAAAY more than that

B.) McAvoy would definitely be on the 1st pairing

They probably don't rebuild and they'd look to keep McAvoy. Even if they traded him, this return wouldn't for enough. Two late 1sts, late 2nd and a bottom-6 F is not close.

A) capfriendly doesn't allow adding picks beyond 2026, so I just put Edmonton's top 3 available picks on. I realize he'll cost more.
B) I created the pairings based on complimentary skill sets. It's not a depth chart.

I don't think there's much chance this happens, but its fun to think about.

How many Cups does this core win?

That kind of core group would be absurdly dominant. McAvoy would address just about every key gap on the team alone (shutdown RD, another elite playdriver, top-end crease/slot defender, etc) and would be worth just about any price paid to get him.

As for the pairings, I quite like Nurse on a shutdown pairing and think Brochard worked well together.

Absolutely agree that it's a dreamy scenario to consider- no matter how unrealistic it is.

I thought about targeting Pastrnak, but he's more money and I felt like he'd have less impact on the roster. And besides, if they feel like they need more scoring they can always add DeBrusk as a free agent next summer as long as he's willing to take the Hyman contract or something close.

Pastrnak would simply be overkill on a team that's already offense-heavy.
