Looking back through past ACGM's and proposals I've made it seems most Minnesota fans are fine with swapping him with a 1st if he doesn't break into the NHL this year
1) They're idiots.
Giving up on a 21 year old prospect when players don't stop developing until 23-24 years old is moronic at best and asinine at its absolute worst.
Brayden Point took til age 22 before he broke out.
Same for Jack Hughes.
Elias Pettersson at 23.
Joel Eriksson-Ek at 23.
Tage Thompson took until age 25 before he broke out, for Christ's sake.
Moving Rossi even if he doesn't break into the NHL this year is frankly an idiots gamble.
2) It's an incredibly small and minor, but a vocal portion of the fanbase, that only says that. Typically, they're either impatient for immediate success and want immediate gratification or want the team to tear it down and tank for top 5 picks regardless.
They're hardly the ones I'd listen to.
Furthermore, if it WAS brought up about moving Rossi, its always in regards to actually getting a legitimate 1C back in the proposed trade. Case and point, Elias Lindholm.
3) If it was strictly a 1st coming back. Buddy, that was for a 1st in THIS YEARS DRAFT, which is now over with. That ship sailed the second the 1st round ended on the 2023 draft. And that was only because of how stacked this years draft was. A first in a draft thats TWO years away does exactly bupkiss for a franchise that window opens in exactly two years when the buyouts end.
So, unless that first Pittsburgh is sending us is literally 100% guaranteed unprotected. And I mean fully unprotected. There would be zero interest on Minnesota's end.
Additionally, all Rossi needs to do to stay in the NHL this coming year is to literally show some form of offensive production this year. That's it. Even if it's only like 20-30 points. His defensive game is already NHL caliber, as he wasn't a liability in the games he played last year, he just couldn't provide offense. Which often times just comes down to confidence.
