They're probably going to lose any Karlsson trade because he has a NMC. Grier needs to do better than his travesty Burns trade though. We aren't certain what restraints Grier is dealing with in terms of Karlsson and his own ownership either. They both might be much more demanding than anyone knows.

no doubt. My only question to this is if the sharks have an appetite to open up to 40% retainment, will they have more suitors that EK65 would be open to play for?

Pittsburgh can't even touch Karlsson without moving Jeff Petry first, Reportedly Petry is the hang up with Pittsburgh being able to get Karlsson. He's basically only has Eastern Conference teams on his trade list other than Canadian teams. And most of the teams he'd be willing to waive outside of hometown Detroit are capped strapped. And obviously Yzerman doesn't want him or he'd be in Detroit right now.

Both are known not to be controlling. EK has stated time and time again that he's willing to keep an open mind to many teams that he sees he has a chance to win. Plattner is known for spending wherever he needs in order to get the best hockey deal possible.

Burns trade wasn't that bad at the time (given Burns was heavily on the decline), and is starting to look better in hindsight with Lorentz getting flipped a year later for Duclair.
