Ducks Swap

No sure that third would come back, but I don't think this is a terrible deal. The only thing is i'm not sure what the ducks plans are on backup this year, if they'll bring in someone in their system. Rutta is a serviceable 3rd pair player. They would add about another $1.6M to their cap, but Henrique retention and DeSmith fall off next summer. They could always flip Rutta at the deadline as well.

Ducks fans on ACGM have recently seemed to think they'll wait to deal him at the deadline as it may bring a bigger return which I could see.

That's an overpay on Henrique, they won't see more than a 1st for him at the deadline

The other half of the deal is Rutta + DeSmith for a 3rd, which is also a slight overpay to balance the deal

If he's having a good season they will easily get a 1st for him at the TDL.

I think Rutta and DeSmith are both serviceable and good depth players on a roster, but I don't see them getting a 3rd as a group.

Not to mention they signed Eller specifically to be their third-line centerman. They didn’t sign Graves to play on the third pairing and the roster only has six defensemen, that’s not going to cut it.

I like Henrique, just think if we trade the 1st it should be for a real real difference maker at the top of the lineup.
