1. Wright's not ready for Kraken to part with Wennberg yet.
2. Karlsson is a BIG risk even at $8M for 4 seasons and Francis is very protective of his cap flexibility.
3. Francis also values his 1st round pick above most other assets, it's still only the 3rd draft the Kraken will have had and the prospect pool isn't very deep.
4. The plan is not to compete now, but to target a window from 2-3 years time when Beniers and Wright hit prime years. Karlsson will have long aged out by then.
