I understand this and would agree, however I think they can use those future picks to get a quality forward. it is more than enough (or close enough) to get someone like Konecny if desired. Also Barbashev is a free agent and Canes could sign him with their available cap space and then just keep the picks. Bunch of possibilities, just an extra move is all, see it all the time. Also I feel a guy like Scheifele would be a great add for this team.

If the Caps want a Yamamoto-type player, they can just re-sign Conor Sheary. IMO they've got too many middle-six wingers already.
