How does it help MNs cap when we're retaining on Foligno and Colton needs a new contract that's projected to be right around a 3x3?

foligno has 1 year left and doesn't score season to season and the age of colton helps and the RFA status helps.. could probably get 2x2

this is a true help to both teams. makes tampa third line better, with D depth and minnesota gets a scorer for all their setup guys.. colton with Zuc sounds good

Oh I like Colton and actually think he'd be a pretty decent fit in MN. It's a decent thought for sure, but this particular deal is just a wash on Cap when you factor in the retention. There's no significant savings for that be a real factor in the equation.

I guess it kinda depends on what Colton actually comes in at. If it is closer to 2x2, there's like a 1M in change...if it's closer to 3x3, it's a wash. He turns 27 before the year, so you're buying UFA years. The RFA discount isn't gonna be massive.

If Colton is taking 2x 2 this is utterly stupid for TB. Ohh great a 26 yo AHLer 🙄. He's not Marty St.louis. They brought in Namestnikov, kept up Koepke over him. He's been through waivers 4-5 x's over the last 2 seasons,but sure put him with Point and Kucherov 🙄. Throw that idea in the 🗑️ that's horrible.
