Description
As I mentioned on previous ACGM, I believe this offseason will be a quiet one for the Kraken. If they make a big move or two, next offseason will make much more sense, since several expiring veteran contracts will open up roster spots and cap space at that time. However, as a hypothetical, I thought I'd explore what the team choosing to make a big splash this offseason would look like.

Because the UFA market is relatively weak, a big splash would likely come via the trade market. All of these players have been connected to the Kraken on this site at least once. I'm looking for feedback from fans who have watched them play on their play styles and what they would realistically cost in a trade. One thing to keep in mind is that for any big moves made this offseason, Seattle is going to have to send money back. I've included some of my thoughts from a Kraken fan's perspective as well. Thanks in advance!

1.
TOR
    Trade Cost: ???

Pros: Superstar winger and elite playmaker, probably the best player of the options listed here. He would be a boon to the Kraken special teams (both the power play and penalty kill), which could use a boost. I think he's the likeliest trade candidate out of Toronto if the Leafs wanted to shake things up.

Cons: Cap hit is steep, even for a player of his caliber, and adding him would deal a major blow to the quality depth that has been the Kraken's calling card. He is also only two years from UFA status, and there's no guarantee he'd be willing to stick around past then.
    2.
    PIT
      Trade Cost: ???

Pros: Consistent goalscoring winger who has always hovered at around a point a game or better, a feat no Kraken forward has matched as of yet. He was also one of their best players this past season even as the team struggled.

Cons: Only a year from UFA status, though any trade would likely include a contract extension. Bigger concerns are his age, with his next contract running through his thirties, and whether he can keep up his scoring pace away from Crosby.
      3.
      SEA
      1. DeBrincat, Alex [Droits de RFA]
      OTT
        Trade Cost: ???

Pros: Goalscoring winger who has potted over 40 goals multiple times in the past. He is also young and his next contract will cover his prime years, meaning he is a good fit with the competitive timeline of the team. There are rumblings that he is discontent in Ottawa, meaning he could be moved this offseason.

Cons: He had a down year by his standards this past season, and there's a chance he's not the same level of goalscorer away from Patrick Kane. For context, DeBrincat was less productive than Kraken forward Jared McCann this past season, which is a problem when he's going to be making quite a bit more than McCann on his next deal. There's also a good chance Ottawa decides to extend him rather than trade him.
        4.
        CGY
          Trade Cost: ???

Pros: Proven top-four defenseman who can play both ways effectively. He is also in his prime at age 26 so he fits with the Kraken's competitive timeline. He would provide a long-term solution for Seattle at LD.

Cons: Only a year from UFA status, so this is really only feasible if he agrees to an extension with Seattle beforehand. There's no guarantee Calgary even entertains trading him, as they're most likely still looking to remain competitive.
          5.
          SJS
            Trade Cost: ???

Pros: Elite offensive defenseman who put up the first 100 point season by a blueliner in over 30 years. He would have a major impact on the Kraken's offensive output and especially the power play, an area where they struggled last season.

Cons: Age and contract. He's 32 with a history of injuries, and is signed for 4 more seasons at an $11.5M cap hit. There's a huge risk of injury and/or decline from him, and acquiring him would limit further moves the Kraken could make.

Ottawa would probably do it for the 2023 1st (20th overall) and one of Bjorkstrand or Burakovsky. If you dont want to part with either, then ill take 20th overall + any 2 of (Tanev, Sprong, Tolvanen, Gourde, Geekie)
