Description

FSG just stated the goal is to continue the chase for a Stanley Cup. The new GM will need to be very active in Free Agency this summer and I can see big changes in the defense core and goaltender position after so many blown leads.

The entire bottom-six will need to be filled with youth, youth and more youth. Here, they are all under the age of 30 and on cheap contracts. Compher rightfully gets paid.

Carter buyout = retirement.

What ever GM is aggressive or very active at FA this off-season will end up fired by the end of the season. The FA crop this off-season is pretty thin and mediocre on good day

The only way Carter doesn't count towards the cap is if he is injured and on LTIR all season. A buyout provides no cap relief, can't send him down, and if he retires his full cap hit remains.

It’s worth it to the Penguins to try, but Saros likely won’t be moved for anything less than their entire future.
