Won't be enough for Jensen. It's either going to start with a 1st or a 2nd(s). Leafs probably won't be in on another rental unless maybe they add Kane but doubt it or they cost a 4th to acquire.

The Leafs would rather keep Clifford for their run and CBJ probably doesn't want him at all even for the reason you mentioned.

They probably use their 2024 1st to get McCabe if they really want to make a bigger add on D. If the Leafs had a rental they could exchange with the caps I could see it happening but don't think they do. So makes me wonder if they could maybe target someone like Dumba or Severson if they are made available in a rental/picks swap.

Jensen is loads better than McCabe is probably as good as Dumba and Severson will cost too much

Career-wise, not so much. Jensen might just be having a really good year or he might have improved, either way they would only have him for 1-year at a similar cost of acquisition. If Jensen could be had for dirt cheap though, then so be it. McCabe is supposedly a 2nd+B-prospect, and I think Jensen would be something similar. If McCabe is retained at 50% it's probably a 1st+ a prospect, they would have him for 2 more years though. I don't think either guy is going to look much better than Holl in the long-term (not that the Leafs will have either Holl or Jensen later). If they acquire McCabe though, they can push out Sandin down out of the line up. For next year though they would have a ton of LD but Giordano only has so many years.

If the ask for Jensen is something ridiculous like a 1st, though, then looking into a guy like Severson probably would be an option had the Leafs had someone they could exchange that they would be interested in. I don't think NJ wants to get rid of Severson though, they just have him on the 3rd pair to cook weaker match ups, but if they got offered Holl+a 1st then maybe it's something they consider.

Personally, don't think that the Leafs should be giving up a 1st for another rental though.
